PLEASE ALLOW 5-10 MINUTES FOR GOING OVER AND SIGNING PAPERWORK WHEN ARRIVING, EVEN IF YOU ARE A REPEAT GUEST
PAPERWORK REQUIREMENTS
The following paperwork must be completed and submitted before a daycare reservation will be confirmed.
Proof of your pet’s current vaccination status from your veterinarian, including a negative fecal test from an outside laboratory (Idexx or Antech).
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
The following vaccinations are required before admittance into the daycare at Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook: Canine Rabies Vaccine | Distemper Vaccine | Bordetella Vaccine (every 6 months) | Influenza Vaccine | Negative fecal (every 6 months) |
HOURS
Guest check-ins and check-outs are available during our normal business hours, as listed below.
Monday-Friday: 7:00 am-5:30 pm THERE IS NO DAYCARE ON SATURDAYS OR SUNDAYS
LATE FEES
We understand life happens; please call us if you think you may be later than 5:30 pm. If you pick up after 5:30 pm but before 6:00 pm, there is a $5.00 fee. If you do not pick your dog up by 6:00 pm, your dog will have to stay the night. The fee is $75 for your dog to stay the night as we no longer offer boarding. That is on top of the $30 for the day.
ENROLLMENT SCREENING
Every guest admitted to the daycare at Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook must first undergo an enrollment screening to evaluate their social skills for the safety of all guests and staff. The first day is considered the screening. If a guest is found not to be an ideal candidate for socialization, suggestions will be made by the staff on how to proceed. The staff will continue to evaluate each guest to observe any behavior changes over time. Should a guest become aggressive towards other guests or staff, they will be removed from social situations, and further training may be suggested. We have the right to let you know that your pet is no longer allowed at daycare at any time if your pet experiences behavioral changes.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Pets with chronic and stable illnesses are welcome as guests. You must inform us of your pet's condition, and we may require medical records from your veterinarian. Unfortunately, a pet with an unstable condition is not permitted in daycare.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL PARASITES
Please remember that parasites are a health hazard to your pet as well as to humans. We will alert you to the presence of fleas and ticks on your pet, as they can quickly invade your home, making eradication difficult. If necessary, we will contact you in the event we notice fleas so that we can treat them appropriately. We check fecals every 6 months because internal parasites can go unnoticed until a fecal sample is tested. In the event that your pet has an internal parasite, we will call you with a treatment plan if necessary.
AGE AND SEX
All guests may be admitted after they are 4 months old. We recommend that all guests over 6 months of age be spayed or neutered. We do not provide daycare to pets unless they are 4 months old. Any dog over the age of 1 year who is not spayed or neutered will not be allowed at doggy daycare. All pets must have completed their vaccine series and be in compliance with AAHA vaccination protocols. Unspayed females in heat are not allowed here.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
The doggy daycare provides bedding and bowls for our guests. If you wish to bring some of your pet’s belongings, please understand that Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items. For the safety of your pet, there will be no outside toys allowed.
FOOD AND MEDICATION
We ask that you please feed and medicate your dog before coming to daycare. We understand things happen and are happy to help on occasion, but dogs should keep their normal routine at home.

An animal left more than five days past the agreed pickup date will be considered abandoned. In accordance with the Connecticut statutes regarding abandoned animals, a letter will be sent to the last known address of the owner. Ten days after receipt of the letter, the animal will be turned over to an animal rescue. The owner will be responsible for all charges incurred, including any attorney, court, and processing fees.

Sec. 20-205a. Disposition of abandoned animals. Any veterinarian may dispose of any animal abandoned in his establishment, provided he shall give notice of his intention to do so to the owner at his last-known address by registered or certified mail, return receipt requested, and shall allow a period of fifteen days to elapse after the receipt is returned before disposing of such animal; but, if the owner cannot be located at such address, the veterinarian shall give such notice by publication in a newspaper having a circulation in the town in which such owner was last known to reside, and shall allow a period of fifteen days to elapse after such publication before disposing of such animal.
MEDIA USAGE
The daycare at Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook will, at times, take photographs and/or videos of our guests to share. The owner consents to the use of all photographs and videos of their pet taken while at the Inn and Spa in any of our promotional materials, and compensation is not provided. These may include but are not limited to publications, advertisements, Facebook, Instagram, and the Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook website.
