Pet Laboratory in Old Saybrook, CT
Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook can perform various blood tests, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, and other types of testing on-site instead of sending samples to an outside lab. This saves time and money, but most importantly, you don’t have to wait overnight for results—meaning your pet gets a diagnosis and the needed treatment sooner.
Pet Blood Work
Blood tests are essential for your pet’s health. Similar to human medicine, blood tests are helpful in determining your pet’s ailment. Blood tests may tell the vet a lot of things, such as whether your pet is dehydrated or fighting an infection. Blood tests are recommended in a number of circumstances, not simply when your pet is sick. Healthy pets are also advised yearly. Do you know the age of your pet in human years? Your pet lives five to ten years longer for every year they live.
To keep your beloved pet happy and healthy, we suggest they undergo a preventive blood check once a year.
The following tests are available in the hospital:
- Liver enzyme screening
- Pancreatic evaluation
- Renal (Kidney) profiles
- FelV, FIV in cats
- Parvovirus in dogs
- Complete blood counts
- General chemistries
- Blood gases
- Fecal testing (parasites)
- Blood pressure
While we do offer an extensive range of on-site testing, it is possible that your pet may need laboratory work beyond our scope. For those cases, we are happy to send blood work or other testing to an outside lab that will send the results back to us.
